How this site works
One line, routed by ZIP code
Bastrop AC Repair publishes plain-language pages about home cooling and heating in Bastrop County and the edge of Lee County, and runs one phone number. A call reaches a dispatcher, who routes it by ZIP code to an independent AC and heating contractor taking calls in that area at that hour. If nobody is participating, the dispatcher says so.
What it does not do
It does not send technicians, diagnose systems, quote figures, sell equipment or inspect finished work. It holds no contractor license, because it does no contracting. The contractor you speak with is a separate business and sets its own charges and terms.
How it is paid
You never pay this site. The advertising partner that operates the phone line pays this site when a call connects with a participating contractor. That is the only way the site earns money; it takes no fee from homeowners and sells no data.
Where the local figures come from
- Weather: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, U.S. Climate Normals 1991–2020, for the Smithville station (USC00418415), the nearest station to Bastrop with a full set of normals, plus the Cedar Creek 5 S and Elgin 1 N stations where a page names them. The February 2021 low comes from NOAA's Applied Climate Information System station data for Bastrop.
- Housing and heating fuel: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates, by ZIP Code Tabulation Area and for Bastrop County: year built, type of structure, owner or renter, and house heating fuel.
- County shares of each ZIP code: U.S. Census Bureau 2020 ZCTA-to-county relationship file.
- License and permit rules: the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program, the City of Bastrop's mechanical permit requirements, and Bastrop County Development Services.
- The 2011 fire: Texas A&M Forest Service.
What the pages will not do
They name no prices, publish no reviews or ratings, and recommend no contractor. A figure for your system comes from the contractor who has looked at it.
Checking a contractor
Ask for the Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor License number and the name it is held under, then look it up on the TDLR license search. Ask for a certificate of insurance and read its dates.
